Hi folks, I'm going to have a kiriban prize for the first US resident to give me a screen shot of their 50K page view, because this number is quite a milestone for me! I'm sorry to say that the prize is for US residents only, since I don't have a broker to ship animal parts internationally.
The prize is a deer antler mount made from your choice of supplies that I have on hand in my shop. I can mount deer antlers that you have already or you can pick a free small set from the extra antlers I have available. I will send the winner photos of the wood panels, antlers, and materials available so that she/he can pick out a design for the mount. I do have a variety of panels, leathers, fabrics, and braids.
Thanks and good luck everyone! I normally mount these (not including antler cost) for $80-120 so you're getting a fairly valuable prize!

People often ask me how I make the things in my gallery, so I put WIP photos and descriptions in my scrapbook. Please check it out if you'd like to see how the sculptures and taxidermy are made:
[link]I understand that some people think taxidermy is cruel, but I think in light of how animals are impacted by our everyday activities (where our meat and leather comes from, how many of our products have been tested on animals, habitat loss due to development), sustainable, regulated hunting and taxidermy aren't such a big deal. I think that we've become detached from the ways we actually impact animals, and taxidermy makes us uncomfortable because it confronts us with natural cycles of life and death and our place in those cycles. Regulated hunting can actually benefit species as a whole and the environment, and it helps get people interested in and connected to the outdoors.
